15 April 2010
Marking 210 years of being a family-owned business this year, Dudson welcomed their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to the Tunstall manufacturing site.
The royal couple visited Stoke-on-Trent as part of the centenary celebration of the formation of the City.
Escorted around the factory by Mr Ian Dudson, Chairman, and Mr Max Dudson, CEO, the royal visitors took the opportunity to experience first-hand a decorating technique when visiting the hand-banding department, each painting a plate.
Both The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were very interested in the process of ceramic manufacture, especially the environmental initiatives undertaken by the company. They stopped en route to talk to as many employees as possible, and both enjoyed their visit immensely.
The factory tour was followed by a reception and presentation, and the royal couple signed the visitors' book and spoke to some of the well-wishers who had gathered outisde the factory, before leaving.
"We were very honoured to have The Prince and The Duchess tour our Tunstall factory during what was an important day for the city of Stoke-on-Trent." said Ian Dudson. "The royal couple were absolutely superb and made it a special and memorable day for everyone involved."
