Held on 30th March, this popular annual event hosted by Anton Edelmann at the British Pottery Manufacturers' Club (BPMF Club), raised money for Hospitality Action, a trade charity for the hospitality industry.
The occasion proved once again to be a lively and entertaining evening, with teams from two local Stoke-on-Trent tableware manufacturers, Dudson Ltd. and Steelite International, taking part in the culinary event. Each team was paired with a chef from the BMPF Club and with £20.00 to spend on ingredients, the enthusiastic volunteers had just one hour to cook and serve a starter and main course, demonstrating their culinary skills to an interested audience.
As usual, it was a fiercely contested battle, and once the time was up, the audience faced the difficult task of deciding who would win by picking their favourite dishes, taking into account both the taste and presentation of each course.
After a nail-biting wait, the Dudson team of Paul Austin and Najib Shammas proved victorious, retaining the title of the culinary cook-off for another year, and extending the unbeaten record of Dudson teams.
The winning menu was:
Spaghetti with Mussels in White Wine Sauce
Maslawi Special Fried Rice with Kufta Kababs, Spicy Vegetable Sauce and Yogurt & Mint Dip served with Lebanese Thin Bread
Unfortunately, both recipes are closely guarded secrets, so we cannot share them with you here.
