Flying high after winning Virgin Atlantic contractFlying High with Virgin Atlantic
30 June 2010
Stoke-on-Trent ceramic tableware manufacturer Dudson Ltd. has recently won a 12-month contract to supply Virgin Atlantic.
The deal to supply products to Virgin's Premium Economy customers replaces pottery made in South Africa.
The new contract extends the company's existing relationship with the airline as Dudson already supplies Virgin Atlantic with a range of tableware for Upper Class customers.
Mr. Max Dudson, Chief Executive, welcomed the news, but warned that 2010 would still be a challenging year for the industry. "Last year trading conditions were extremely difficult", he said, and continued "… but there are small signs of improvement and winning contracts like this one is vital to us."
There are indications that the hospitality market is starting to gain momentum. The Dudson Design Studio is very busy at the moment, which suggests that hotel and restaurant projects, put to one side during the recession last year, are now resuming. However, Mr. Dudson is not taking anything for granted, "Customers are still cautious and not taking action until they absolutely have to … we have to sell the message that over the lifetime of the product we represent better value for money."
The renowned strength and durability of Dudson products coupled with a lifetime edge chip warranty results in lower replacement rates and therefore proves better value for money over time than products that may be cheaper initially.
