Dudson was invited to design two bespoke china ranges for the Turnberry Resort: one for the Grand Tea Lounge and another for the 1906 Restaurant.
In October 2008 the Turnberry Resort was closed for a dramatic refurbishment. Ralph Porciani, Turnberry's Chief Executive and Restaurant Manager Scot Anderson visited Dudson, working closely with the Dudson design team to create exactly what they were looking for.
For the 1906 Restaurant the brief was for something subtle that would fit into the relaxed and informal ambience of a Brasserie serving breakfast and dinner. A design that would suit classic menu items such as: Eggs Benedict, Steak Diane, Lobster Thermidor and Dover Sole. The final design is a decorative but subtle 'white on white' decoration, complementing this attractive restaurant.
The Grand Tea Lounge required a traditional pattern with a Scottish theme. The Dudson design team created a versatile decoration suited to the 24 hour menu offered in this lounge.
With additional standard items required for the bar area, overall Dudson supplied more than 10,000 pieces on time for the 138th Open Championship earlier this year.
Turnberry was the first purpose planned golfing resort in Britain, opening its doors in May 1906. With electricity, central heating and hot and cold running water, this hotel, with its iconic white plasterwork and red roof tiles, offered opulence and a high quality of service.
Over many years there has been substantial investment and a number of improvements, transforming it from a seasonal to a year-round destination.
This final £30 million renovation restored Turnberry to the vision of the original architect, whilst accommodating the needs of the modern guest, turning it into a Luxury Collection Resort.
