Environment
Dudson's approach to the environment is guided by an Environmental Policy, championed by the CEO, Mr. Max Dudson. We have identified and improved aspects of our business that may impact upon the environment and are in the process of achieving the ISO 14001 environmental standard. The company has embedded the principle of 'continuous improvement', and has undertaken many initiatives to save energy and improve environmental performance.
Any manufacturing process inevitably generates waste. We work closely with local businesses to reuse/recycle waste, minimising the amount sent to land fill. As a result of thiscollaboration, a large proportion of our waste is recycled by other businesses and generalwaste collections have been reduced by almost 69% since 2005.
Installation of a bespoke water effluent treatment plant ensures that all water used in themanufacturing process can be cleaned and reused for general cleaning purposes.
We have achieved a reduction in energy consumption by using a
high performance lead-free glaze that utilises ThermECO*
technology, and which is firedat lower temperatures. This
innovation has been achieved without compromising the strength and
quality of product synonymous with the Dudson brand.
(*ThermECO is a trademark of Endeka Ceramics Ltd.)
Launched in 2010, 'Evolution' is a new ceramic body that has the lowest carbon footprint of any ceramic hospitality tableware worldwide. The amount of carbon generated in the production of Evolution is 45% less than other Dudson products.
